I am raising funds to help the Msamaria Mwema Children’s Home in Nairobi, Kenya, an orphanage that houses 36 children. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these bracelets will be donated to the orphanage. I visited this orphanage in early 2018 and pledged to do everything I can to help them financially. Thank you for helping me provide a better life for these children ♥
I made these bracelets using rare antique African Trade Beads, which I bought at a small market in Nairobi, Kenya. These beads were handmade in Venice, Italy several centuries ago by master glass makers and were used in Africa between the 1500’s and early 1900’s as trading beads, to purchase commodities, and yes, slaves. As I contemplated the dark history of these beads, the thought came to my mind—what if I designed a bracelet using these beads, and gave the proceeds to the orphanage? I thought it might be a nice way to give back and in a very small way, to right the wrongs we did to these people for centuries.
Each bracelet will feature a colorful, one-of-a-kind Venetian glass bead from the strand shown in the 5th image. I make the bracelets with beautiful rugged brown leather (natural dyed), Turquoise gemstones and antique pewter beads. Button and loop closure.
If you would prefer a specific bead or color, please leave me a message with your order. I will try my best to accommodate your request based on the beads available. You may also reach me by email at info@everdesigns.com
Please refer to the bracelet size chart (6th image) to know what size to order. Please note that some of these beads show the passage of time with small chips that have been smoothed over the centuries (beads have no sharp edges). This only makes them more interesting and a great conversation piece.
Thank you for your support! ♥
